Bunk Beds?

I found Michael playing UNDER Katie's crib while Katie played IN the crib.

Might as well learn this now, Katie- boys are strange, and they never out grow it! :-)

Big Kids Mean Bigger Messes

I pulled out the Hoover Steam Vac this week to shampoo the carpets, and I guess the lid to the cleaning solution is NOT childproof. Michael spilled a good bit of it on the love seat. Luckily, the steam cleaner has an upholstery attachment, so I just cleaned the furniture, too.
On a more exciting note, notice that Michael is wearing big boy underwear!! We are officially potty training during the day time, and today have had only one accident (immediately after which Michael came to me and in a very solemn tone said, "Oh No."

Sleepy Heads

Michael saw Katie napping and thought it was a great idea. I do usually keep my kids clothed, but Michael was JUST finishing a lunch of disastrously messy proportions.

Wedding Picture Surprise

Someone at church found a disposable camera in a drawer in the office and got it developed. It turned out to be almost 5 years old- pictures from our wedding rehearsal! It brought a smile to my face as I reminisced on sweet memories (and a small frown at how much younger and thinner I was! I immediately went down and worked out for an hour!) We will celebrate 5 wonderful years of marriage on December 28th! How the time flies!

Tummy Sleeper

Katie finds it more relaxing to sleep on her tummy with her knees up for naps. It's pretty cute to watch her snooze on the pillow.

Apparently, Katie is having an amusing dream.

Michael Picasso

Michael really enjoys coloring, and only occasionally tastes the crayons. I think chubby fingers and fat crayons are absolutely adorable!

Baby Fish Mouth

Katie has this see-through paci that is quite amusing to watch. It reminds us of the Pictionary scene from When Harry Met Sally. (Video HERE)

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Michael inspects the new tree in the living room. He enjoys looking at the "balls" and likes the new furniture arrangement. Maybe next year he can help us decorate, but this year, we decided to decorate after he went to bed.

A Tree Emerges From the Branches

I know it is an abomination for some to think about a fake Christmas tree, and I definitely prefer a *real* tree, but my cheap side knows that this tree paid for itself about 2 Christmases ago. I burn candles to make it smell more Christmas-y, and think of how nice it is not having to vacuum up needles and water the tree daily.

The Sacrifice of Praise

"Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all.

Wealth and honor come from you;
you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.

Now, our God, we give you thanks,
and praise your glorious name."

1 Chronicles 29:11-13

Thankful for Family

We had a lovely Thanksgiving, and were able to have a nice Thanksgiving meal with my sister Meredith and her family, Matt, Erica, & Olivia. We wish we were able to spend the day with more of you. We are thankful for wonderful friends and family, and the many, many blessings that God has bestowed upon us!

Daddy & Katie digesting their turkey... okay, so just daddy ate turkey, but Katie would have eaten some, too, if not for the complete lack of teeth.

Meredith serves pie, and Matt helps Erica with her leftovers.

A relaxing afternoon eating popcorn & watching "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

Oliva shows off her trick of making her dress stick to the vent. No, that wasn't the heater keeping us warm on a cold November day, it was the A/C cooling down the abnormal 80 degree weather!

Thankful for Friends

After Thanksgiving dinner with my sister and her family, the 4 of us Blakemores went to the Scantlins for pumpkin cheesecake and apple pie. We are blessed to have good Christian friends, and enjoyed spending time with them (not pictured- Abby, Olivia, Katie, & Mommy).

The Bib Says It All

Intense Playing

Michael plays while Katie takes it all in

Sibling Bonding

Michael teaches Katie the correct way to nap.

Let's Trade Hats

Michael decided that he and Katie should swap hats. That IS Katie underneath that ball cap, and Michael is just a hair too big for Katie's beanie hat. :-)

Such a BIG Boy!

Michael is so long in the torso that he is growing out of his 2T clothes already. He is only 23 months!! I tried putting these 2T overalls on him this week, and he ended up with a big diaper wedgie. I guess I will have to bump him up to the 3T clothes here soon. You're growing up too fast, buddy!

This Boy Eats Salad!

I have been eating a lot of oatmeal, cereal, and salad so as not to anger my already-annoyed gallbladder (the gallbladder makes bile which breaks down fat), and Michael has decided that he likes salad. He, of course, needs salad dressing, but he really enjoys it. Who would have guessed? If only I could get my husband to like salad...

The Bargain Swing

Amanda, my equally frugal friend, found me this Fisher Price Papasan swing at a garage sale listed for $30. I had a swing already, but wanted this one (since it is cooler and prettier, has more features, and looks so comfortable that I am tempted to crawl in there for a nap every now and then), so I told her to snatch it (regular price is about $150). I then promptly sold MY swing in the free classifieds for $35! So, I got a swing upgrade and made $5 on the deal!

The Fork Master

Michael loves to use utensils, even on things like a grilled cheese sandwich.

Michael Counts

We have been working on our numbers, and Michael is doing a great job. He has a number puzzle that he really enjoys doing, and is learning very quickly. I found him playing with my table centerpiece (a basket of apples), and he was lining them up and saying "One, two, tree..." He got up to six, but forgot five. It's very cute to watch him learn. I can't believe he will be 2 years old in just 2 weeks!! It goes too fast!

Dr Blakemore Gives Katie a Check-Up

Katie looks a little concerned that it might be something serious

I wonder what he heard listening to her tibia!

Morning Peacefulness

This morning while I was checking email and reading the news as I drank my delicious cup of Kona coffee, the kids were so very good. Katie enjoyed her paci and looked around while Michael watched his Baby Signing Time video. Michael is becoming quite proficient at his signs, and I think he might be getting video #4 for his upcoming birthday (but don't tell him that!)

Sweet Consolation

This is Katie recovering from her bath, which she still hates! She screams bloody murder the entire time I am washing her, then makes sad, sniffley noises when I wrap her in a towel, as though to say, "Mom, that was the most awful thing I can imagine- please don't ever do that again!"
Notice that Katie is growing her own little infant-sized mullet. Hey, it might just be the next cool nursery fad! All the babies will soon be growing one.
