Kate takes great care of her babies. This is baby Alexandra.

The kids had lots of fun in the snow.
What is it about the snow that makes the kids have to go to the bathroom 5 minutes after suiting up and playing (even if they went before?!)
David was ready to go in the snow. He got his coat, his fleece, his boots... and forgot the pants.
Kate all bundled up and ready to play
Michael enjoyed all sorts of snow-play, but mostly throwing it at other people.
Kate did not enjoy snowball fights. She just wanted to build snow castles.
David finally got suited up (in a slightly large coat and rain boots).
I knew he wouldn't last long anyway. Once he got snow on his "gwoves" and they wouldn't easily clean off, he was done.
While I am glad that the kids got to play in some snow, I am elated that the weatherman is calling for a 70-degree day on Tuesday! Bring it on!!

David is SO silly. He's just full of personality, and he constantly makes us laugh.
Kate is always just a few steps away from her little brother. They play well together.
David decided that Saturday afternoon would be more fun if he became...
...SUPER NAKED BOY! (Yes, that's what he was calling himself!)
Apparently, Kate was his back-up dancer.
Upward Basketball games began on Saturday
Shaking hands while lining up for man-to-man match-up
Staring each other down
Throwing the ball in.
Michael has a lot to learn (like the necessity of dribbling while running with the ball), but it sure is entertaining to watch (and it helps getting some of Michael's excess energy out.)

Michael loves to read, as do his siblings.
Michael read The Lightning Thief in the fall, and he absolutely loved it, so I got him the entire series of Percy Jackson and the Olympians for Christmas. In the 3 weeks since Christmas, he has devoured the series, and he is about half way through with the 5th and final book. He was excited to find supplemental books at the library, so he's reading the comic version, as well as perusing the All-Things-Percy encyclopedia-ish guide. Some of the themes and ideas are a little over Michael's head (ie, he asked me today what a "boarding school" is, and why would someone ever send their kids there), but he loves the action and the mythology. A boy after my own heart.

Kate is always writing sweet notes to people, usually to her family.
"Dear Mom, I lov yow. De son is brite wen I lov yow. Lov Kate."
Can you see that bright sun? It's shining brightly, powered by the love of a precious girl. :-)
On the back, she labeled it "sweet note."
She punctuates everything with a question mark.
This girl is adorable!

Michael had his first practice with Upward Basketball last night.
He really enjoyed playing, even though the first practice was not as much action as he had anticipated. He's really going to love it, I can tell (if he will pay attention long enough to learn!)

Jon and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary on December 28th, 2012.
(Actually, our marriage license says Dec 29th, but that's another story...)
Thank you, Jon , for 10 wonderful years of marriage. We've been though good time and bad, but there's no one else that I would rather travel through this life with but you.
I am looking forward to many, many more years together!

The kids were surprisingly not up at the crack of dawn on Christmas morning.
The boys were up first and were elated to see the presents and stockings. Santa (aka our amazing families on both sides!) was very good to us this year.
The kids LOVED their stockings, especially the excess sugar.
David had an entire plastic candy-cane tube of M&Ms for breakfast.
Kate got a new, tiny baby doll. She named this one Maryland (do you see a theme of states?) Pennsylvania is her favorite doll, and now Maryland has joined our family of dolls. Penny and Mary- quite the pair.
Lots of sharing and excitement going on.
Fun and presents
Batman joined us for Christmas
I let the kids choose our Christmas dinner. I was pretty happy with their choice of hot dogs, Doritoes, and fruit salad, since I worked 3-11 and didn't want a lot of food prep to do. We had a wonderful day, and blessed time celebrating the birth of Jesus with our family.
