Sweetie Kate

I just got the notice that it's time to register this sweetie for Kindergarten. (sniff sniff)
I'm going to miss hanging out with her during the day.

But I have a feeling she is going to adore school.  She currently uses any media she can to get her artsy-ness out.  Today, she painted leftover breakfast.

Michael is a Lugnut

Michael's new baseball team is called the Lugnuts.  Cheesy name aside, he has a really great coach who is doing a good job of teaching the kids the great sport of baseball.
Michael, our little lefty, batting.

This is a machine-pitch league, which is quite different from t-ball that Michael has played the last 2 years.  He's having to learn the fundamentals of hitting, and I'm glad he has a great coach.  A good coach, like a good teacher, can make a world of difference.

Kate, in her pink skirt, decided that she was going to dig worms.  Here she is with a big, fat juicy one.
Kate and David played well outside until the wind picked up.  Then my cold-natured Kate huddled under a pile of clothes and coats until practice was over. David made friends with a 3-year-old girl, and they played chase for a while.
I love baseball season.

We are Still Here

Our last couple weeks have consisted of busy-ness and good company.  Grandma and Grandpa Blakemore were able to come for a visit, and we enjoyed having them.  We've had snow followed by 70 degree temperatures.  Park playing and basketball parties.  Homework and re-certification classes and dental & optometry visits.   Home shows and regular work schedules.  All in all, we're doing well.

Laser Vision

Michael was excited because he saw this sign and was certain that he could get laser vision just like the super heroes.  :-)

Boys and Bruises

David loves to jump off of things.  He jumped off a chair and hit his forehead on the bunk bed, and it produced this big goose-egg.  It sticks out pretty far, and it turned all sorts of fun colors.  This is 4 days out.    David cried for about 3.2 seconds and went back to jumping.
Maybe the safety goggles should be standard fare.

First Dental Visits

Thanks to our new dental plan though my work, I took the 2 older kids to their first dentist appointments this week.  They did great, and we're happy to announce NO CAVITIES!
Kate got a little anxious at the cleaning tools, but she hung with it and did great!

Michael went first, and he also did great.  He did scare Kate a little when he was trying to warn her of the instruments.  He said that is was JUST like on Finding Nemo with a suck-y pen-thing for your spit.  ;-)
Today, I went to the eye doctor and was scolded for how long I went between appointments.  I've had a retinal detachment in the past, and I should have my eyes dilated every 6 months, and AT LEAST every year.  I will try to do better, if only to not get the lecture next time.

I Like Big Books...

The book on the left is my first grader's book. The book on the right is mine.
