My Valentine

My Valentine brought me flowers before the storm in case he couldn't get out on Valentine's day.
The kids are missing their school valentine parties today, but now we get the best of both worlds with being able to spend all day with the ones we love, and they get a party when they go back to school.
They woke up to little individual heart-shaped boxes of candy.  I never knew that a $1 gift would bring them so much joy.  So yes, they had chocolates for breakfast. We'll make up for it with eggs for lunch. :-)

Freshly Fallen Snow

It didn't stay this clear and untrampled for long.

More Snow Days

We got another round of snow, and this time it was 10-12 inches.
The boys were kind enough to clear the driveway and vehicles.

Michael and Kate played for a while, but David said it was to hard to walk.  Poor guy could not get his footing without falling over.

A Note about Kate

Kate loves to write and make notes.  She often will leave notes in various places, and I find them after she goes to bed.
"PS I want ise cream.  PS Cwicly (Quickly)"
This was on my bedroom door when I got home from work one night around midnight.

For Valentine's Day, we are helping a child through Show Hope who is in need of heart surgery for CHD. The kids were so excited to be part of this, and they were very generous with their money to help a child in need.  Kate decided that she would write a letter to the orphanage for one of the kids awaiting heart surgery.  Sweet girl didn't realize that it was possible to not have a mommy and daddy, even though we are supporting an orphan and have talked about it quite a bit.  She was devastated when I told her that this child probably doesn't have a mommy to love him.  She has such a sweet, tender heart, and I hope it stays that way!

Snowy with a Chance of Meatballs

We had a themed dinner tonight before watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, even though the weatherman is calling for more snow and ice this week.

Silly David in a Pink Hat

David wanted to wear this hat since he thought it would make him look like Edith from Despicable Me 2.

Can you see the resemblance?

2014 Upward Basketball

The 2 older kids had their first basketball games last week, and they sure were fun to watch.  I can tell that they have improved even in the few weeks they have been playing.
It's cute to watch Kate guard her person on man-to-man defense.  She often guards her man on offense, too.
It's not unusual for Kate to wave and sign "I love you" to me about every 5 minutes every practice or game.

She still can't quite get it up to the rim yet, but she sure gets effort points.

And extra points for being adorable.

Kate is the only girl, but she is used to being in the midst of brothers, so it doesn't phase her.

Michael's league is a lot more fun to watch.  Lots of action and more scoring.  Michael has improved greatly, and his last game was really great.   He scored 8 points, and he had lots of rebounds.
Praying before the game

Michael is learning to use his size to get rebounds.

We are so glad that Michael got good coaches this year.  He has learned so much from them, and we appreciate all their hard work!!

Piano Lessons

Michael started piano lessons in September, and he really loves learning music.  His teacher is really wonderful, and she makes it fun.  Michael actually practices on his own and sometimes plays past what he is assigned to do.  I'm glad for my musical husband who can help Michael with both theory and technique.
And oh boy, I'm going to be in trouble when he gets a little older and the girls start taking notice of those adorable dimples.
