Football & Cheer 2014

The older 2 kids finished up football & cheer this week.  It was a good season, and we were glad to participate in this well-run league.
Kate and her squad, The Bluebells, before their half-time show.

Michael and his team, the Colts.  This is the first time that Michael has really bonded with his teammates.  They played really well together, and grew a lot in both learning the game and in learning all the advantages of teamwork.  At the end of the final award ceremony, Michael told me, "This was both the happiest day of my life, and the saddest day of my life."  They played a really great final game against a team that was much older and bigger than they were, and they came out with a win.

The half-time show.  Kate is in the back about 3 steps behind everyone else.  She informed me that she does not want to cheer next year, as she thought it was going to be fun and not work. ;-)

It's Beginning To Sound A Lot Like Christmas

Michael just started on his Christmas book in piano, so we have enjoyed Christmas music a little earlier than normal.

Kate Turns 7!

Happy birthday to our sweet 7-yr-old girl!

It's so hard to believe it's been seven years!  She is growing up, and she is quite the lovely & delightful young lady.
David and I had lunch with Kate at school.  We took our picnic basket and ate our meal on fine china in the lunchroom- Mac & cheese, chocolate milk, cookies.  Yummy!

Presents!

Rainbow loom from Grandma & Grandpa!

Daddy showed her the Rainbow Loom ropes (or bands, if you will)

Kate wanted Papa John's Pizza for dinner and cookies instead of cake.  Yum.
We went to the Children's Museum, which Kate spent mostly doing arts and crafts.  Sounds like her ideal day!

Happy 7th birthday, precious girl!  We love you!

Children's Museum

The Children's Museum of Richmond recently opened a Fredericksburg location here in town, and we have been enjoying our passes.
Lots of fun things to play with.

Fall Festival

We try to hit up all the free or nearly-free events around town when we have time.  This was one such event at a local church.  Lots of fun games for the kids, plus a free pumpkin for each kid and a hayride.
David was swallowed by the great fish.

This and That

Michael made his own Picasso witch in art class.

Kate has brothers, and she won't let them be the only ones who get to wrestle daddy.
The Orioles fought hard to get to the ALDS, but they lost it in the end.  Next year, guys!

More applesauce-making

Lego fun

The older kids have really been enjoying Lego building in the evenings.  Their favorite thing is to build while I read to them.  We are currently on Book #2 of the Narnia series.

Misc Happenings

As my little sister pointed out repeatedly (thanks, Mel!), I've been a bad blogger lately.  We've had company a few times, activities, work, and the general busy-ness of life going on.  No good excuses.
David helps me make applesauce.

Marshmallow-y treats that I brought home from a baby shower.

Kate being silly

David learning important tasks.

David was sick, and he ended up on antibiotics and steroids.  The steroids made him hyper and sillier than normal.

Jumping off the bed at night before bedtime.

Then it all caught up with him and he crashed.  He is feeling much better.

Life Lessons

Michael got a hard lesson in responsibility today when the librarian made him replace a brand new book on which he smudged some unidentifiable food.  It was a $19.99 replacement fee, which cleaned out his personal savings (and then some).  It looks like I will be retiring from all chores until he has made up the difference.
At least he got to keep the book.
